Carla Jean Thunder Renish

Carla Jean Thunder Renish born July 9, 1956 in Ideal, SD to Simon Thunder and Gladys Eagle Star Thunder. Carla entered eternal life on December 28, 2012 at Averra McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Carla grew up in Ideal where she attended grade school. She then went on to high school in Winner, SD. She was involved in softball and played first base. Carla had two sons: Van and Vance Thunder. She was united in marriage to Jake Traversie of Eagle Butte, SD in 1980. They both worked at St. Joseph Indian School as house parents. From this union their daughter Simoine Rebecca Traversie Little Wounded of Eagle Butte was born. In 1985 she moved to Sioux Falls, SD and joined her friend Frank Renish. They were married in 1999. She is survived by her brother Harry Thunder of Sioux Falls, SD. Daugter: Simoine (David) Little Wounded of Eagle Butte, SD. Sons: Van and Vance Thunder of Sioux Falls, SD. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: Simon and Gladys Thunder. Brothers: Simon, Eddie, Harry, Larry, and Clement. Sisters: Charlotte Cook, Rita, Delores, Amelia, Edna, and adopted sister Rita. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A two-night wake was held at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Ideal, SD on January 3, 2013. Funeral Services began on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. Rev. Annie Henniger officiated funeral services. Burial followed at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Cemetery
