Clement James Thunder Sr.

July 6, 1954 - August 19, 2012

Clement James Thunder Sr., 58, of Ideal, SD. Was born on July 6th 1954 in Dixon, SD and entered the Spirit World on Sunday, August 19th 2012 at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Clement attended Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau SD. He left school in the 10th grade. He then moved to Sioux Falls to work for Tabbett Construction where he worked for 2 years. He moved back to Ideal and played softball for Ideal as a catcher. He met his lovely wife Shirley Pinot and they were married on April 15th 1978. To this union 8 children were born. Clement was also church Jr. Wardean for the Holy Spirit Church for 3 years. He enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Clement loved all of his children and grandchildren. Clement is survived by his wife: Shirley Thunder of Ideal, SD. Six daughters: Holly (Gary) Chamberlain, Sioux Falls, SD; Priscilla Thunder, Sheila Thunder, Colleen Thunder, Rae Ann Thunder and Lena Thunder all of Sioux Falls, SD. His son; Clement Thunder Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD. His brother: Harry Thunder, Sioux Falls, SD. His sister: Carla (Frank) Thunder Benish. All the children who adopted him as a father who live in Sioux Falls, SD. Clement is preceded in death by his parents: Simon Thunder Sr. and Gladys Eagle Star Thunder. His brothers: Harry Thunder Larry Thunder, Simon Thunder Jr. and Edward Thunder. His sisters: Charlotte Thunder Cook and Edna Thunder DeNoyer. One son: Tony Earl Thunder. Half sisters: Delores Thunder and Amelia Thunder. An adopted sister: Rita. Clement will be greatly missed by all his children, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. A two-night wake will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Ideal, SD. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Ideal with burial to follow at Holy Spirit Cemetery.
