Dear Cheyenne River Lakota Oyate Family, the following funeral service note for a CRST tribal member is for your prayerful consideration: Mariah Paige LeBeau passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls from injuries sustained in a car accident. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the LaPlante Powwow Grounds at LaPlante, SD with Deacon Iva Traversie officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Cemetery at LaPlante. Mariah was born on August 15, 1995, in Rapid City, SD, to Gordon and Karla (Kingman) LeBeau. She grew up in Aberdeen, SD, with her mom, brother Randy Shaving and sister Samantha LeBeau. She attended Lincoln and Simmons Elementary schools, where she met her life-long best friend, Seana (Sese) Two Crow. Mariah was energetic and enjoyed both volleyball and gymnastics while at Simmons Middle School. She was also very musical and was in orchestra and loved to sing. Mariah’s family met an angel named Ruth Miller who brought them to church and introduced them to Jesus. Mariah accepted Jesus as her Savior and her faith was an anchor in her life. During the summers, she spent time with one of her favorite aunts, Ami Robideau, and enjoyed being with the rest of her extended family in Swiftbird. During her time at Aberdeen Central High School, Mariah met Jacob Bad Wound. On July 19, 2014, Mariah gave birth to her first and only son, Marley Daniel Sioux BadWound. Mariah was so excited to welcome her baby and loved being his Mom. He was her greatest joy and proudest achievement. In 2015, Mariah moved to Albuquerque, NM, with her sister Sam, where she worked for the state of New Mexico as a residential counselor and medical aide, working with mentally challenged adults in a group home setting. Mariah loved her job and found it very fulfilling. Later that year, Mariah moved back to Aberdeen where she reconnected with Chris Tveit. Mariah was a bartender at several establishments in Aberdeen, where she and Chris enjoyed working together. They had dreams of starting their own bar and grill, Beau’s. In 2019, Mariah moved back to Swiftbird to be closer to her family and feel connected to her Mom and home. Mariah was very close to her mom and was always by her side growing up. When Mariah lost her mom in 2013, she took it very hard, and looked forward to being reunited with her in heaven. Mariah was the youngest of the three siblings and they shared a special bond. Despite the age gap between them, they had a lot of fun together and shared many happy memories. When the three of them were together, there would be lots of loud contagious laughter. Mariah held a special place in her big brother’s heart and she was her sister Sam’s first and biggest baby. Mariah was four when her first nephew Jaeden was born and she was a very proud auntie. She continued to be playful and loving to Isaiah, Ryder, Poppy, Moses, Milly and Thomas. Mariah loved music, cruising with friends and family and having fun. She was beautiful, fun, sweet, loving and affectionate. She was known for her contagious laugh and it is one of the things that we will miss the most about her. She was often the center of attention and a champion sleeper. Most of all she was a loving mother, daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend. Although we greatly mourn the loss of Mariah, we are comforted with the knowledge that she is now reunited with her loving mother and is no longer in pain. Mariah’s life will be remembered and cherished by her son Marley Bad Wound of Pine Ridge, SD; Siblings: Randy (Emily) Shaving, Samantha LeBeau and Lynn Simon all of Aberdeen, SD, biological father Gordon LeBeau of Eagle Butte, SD, maternal grandmother Andria Robideau (Kingman) of Swiftbird, SD, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Proceeding Mariah in death are her mother Karla Sue Kingman, uncles Robert “Robby” Robideau and Andrew Mound, cousin Joseph Skye Sr., maternal grandfather John Lind and fraternal grandmother Dorothy Gerreau. The family would like to thank Amanda Vander Vorst and Gettysburg’s first responders and the Avera Gettysburg Hospital and Avera McKennan Hospital ICU Staff for their care and dedication.
