Dear Cheyenne River Lakota Oyate Family, the funeral service of a Cheyenne River Lakota Reservation resident is for your prayerful concern: Melita L. Mexican, age 39, of Eagle Butte, SD, entered the Spirit World on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Cheyenne River Health Center at Eagle Butte, SD She is survived by one son, Thomas Mexican of Eagle Butte, SD. Three brothers, Daniel Mexican, Steven Mexican, and Percival Mexican of Eagle Butte. Four sisters, Darlene Dupris and Margaret Little Shield of Cherry Creek, SD, Sharon Tuttle of Box Elder, SD and Margie Mexican of Eagle Butte. In compliance with the CDC Covid19 regulations and the CRST Tribal Directives for mortuary care with social distancing, a funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 7 at the Blue Community Building at Cherry Creek, SD, with Mother Ellen Huber officiating. Burial will follow at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery at Cherry Creek, SD. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rooks Funeral Home of Eagle Butte, SD. Sincerely, Charlie Rooks funeral director
